98.3 TRY Social Dilemma: If Ex-Wife Asks For Help With A Project, Should You Bill?

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 19:39:26 GMT

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Today's 98.3 TRY Social Dilemma came from Jason and it's about dealing with his ex. Here's his email. Get the latest, news, weather, sports and community events delivered right to your inbox! Hi Jaime. I need some advice on how to handle my ex-wife. We divorced a little over a year ago, and she got the house. Since then, though, she hasn’t been shy about calling me when something needs to be repaired. If it’s something urgent, like a safety issue, I have no problem doing things. Our kids spend a good deal of time there, after all. Lately, though, I’ve been getting calls about loose cabinet doors and stuff like that. I was helpful at first, but enough is enough. I was thinking about sending her billing estimates before agreeing to do any work or buy any supplies that would be cheaper than your average handyman service, but enough to make a point. Is that more trouble than it’s worth, or should I just tell her to be a big girl and handle it herself? I don't ...

Ask Amy: Spouse sees the worst, waits for better

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 19:39:26 GMT

Dear Amy: I am 54 years old and have been married to my (second) husband for 25 years. My husband drinks at least six or more beers every evening. He gets up by 6 a.m. and goes to work and will work all day without any issues (to my knowledge). He does, however, start drinking by 4:30 or 5 p.m. and will drink until he goes to bed (between 9 to 10 p.m.).I have asked him to stop, and he flat-out said no. I asked him to cut back. He did for a while but now is drinking every evening again.I have an extremely long work commute, so I go to bed early and get up by 4:30 a.m.We have not been intimate or even cuddled in years. I have told him this bothers me, but he says it’s all my fault. I love him so much and he still gives me butterflies (I’ve told him this).Nothing — and I mean nothing — has worked.I can’t imagine my life without him, but I also can’t live my life like this.Is this selfish? I mean, we did say “for better or for worse.”I just need someone to spell it out, even if it i...

Lakers sound defiant tone despite facing elimination in conference finals

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 19:39:26 GMT

EL SEGUNDO — Down but defiant, the Lakers reconvened at their practice facility on Sunday. They sounded as upbeat as any team could be when facing playoff elimination, a positive tone running like an electrical current through their comments about their 3-0 series deficit in the Western Conference finals.Just because no team in NBA history has rallied to win a playoff series when trailing 3-0 doesn’t mean it can’t be done, according to Lakers coach Darvin Ham.“Hell, yeah, we’ve got an opportunity, man,” he said. “Everybody’s counting us out. It’s crazy. It’s no different than what we’ve been through all year. Just the uphill battle and trying to solidify ourselves and re-establish what this culture is all about, the Lakers organization. I think we’ve done that and we have another opportunity to take another step in the right direction come (Monday).”Ham bristled when asked why no team in the league has overcome a 3-0 deficit.“I don’t know,” he said after the team held a film-study s...

Angels lingering around .500 despite the exploits of Ohtani and Trout

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 19:39:26 GMT

The week began with another remarkable feat by Shohei Ohtani — he reached base five times in a game he pitched — and then Mike Trout hit a couple home runs later in that series.Through it all, the Los Angeles Angels still looked pretty average. The Angels are 25-23, so they appear poised to improve on last season’s dismal 73-89 mark. They might even finish with a winning record for the first time since 2015. But the bar is likely to be much higher if they want to reach the postseason with the Ohtani-Trout combo.Right now, Los Angeles is third in the AL West behind Texas and Houston, and the competition for the wild cards figures to be formidable thanks to the strength of the AL East. The Angels did manage a split in a four-game series at Baltimore and then took two of three against AL Central-leading Minnesota, but the reality is they’ve had a hard time getting too far from the .500 mark. Los Angeles has had records of 1-1, 5-5, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9, 10-10, 11-11, 12-12, 14-14 an...
