DENVER (KDVR) — It's not just you and your luggage that fly on a plane. Airlines constantly ship cargo underneath along with your luggage, which is what makes next-day shipping possible. But, there are a few things you may not expect to sit beneath you when you're flying to and from the Denver International Airport. New direct international flight coming to DIA FOX31 spoke with Southwest spokesperson Dan Landson and Customer Service Manager Chris Rupprecht about what's usually packed with your luggage under the plane. Raw fishSeafood is one of the biggest shipments Southwest brings into Denver. It's common to ship seafood by plane because it can perish fast. Airplanes are the reason Denver has fresh fish. Along with seafood, Southwest also boards packaged perishables like meat on flights. Did you know Denver is one of the freshest non-coastal places you can get fish? There's no barrier between the luggage and the cargo, but with that being said, every item under the plane is pa...Florida man rescued from burning car by Orange County deputies reunites with heroes after months of recovery

A Florida man found himself at the heart of a blazing inferno, only to be rescued by quick-acting Orange County deputies who raced against flames to pull him from his burning vehicle. The flames grew so intense that the heat caused his dashboard to melt onto him, trapping him inside the searing blaze. After a months-long recovery journey, he finally had the chance to express his gratitude to the heroes who saved his life. The incident unfolded back in February when a car erupted into flames following a severe crash in Orange County. Newly released video footage from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office captured Brandon Dookharan’s terrifying predicament—trapped inside as flames engulfed the vehicle, growing larger and more ferocious by the second. Orange County deputies were the first to arrive on the scene as they assessed the dire situation. Deputy Francisco Santos Melo recounted the intensity of the fire, saying it was overwhelming. “You can see half of his body i...2 trucks catch fire following collision in NW Miami-Dade

Russia has fined Google 3 million rubles — around €30,000 — for not deleting what it says is fake news about the war in Ukraine.A Moscow court found Google guilty on Thursday for failing to remove from YouTube what it considers “prohibited information” — allegedly detailing how to enter certain protected facilities — and “false information” about the “special military operation in Ukraine,” despite having been ordered to do so by Russian authorities, according to Russian state-run news agency TASS. Since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has ramped up its efforts to control online content that does not agree with its narrative. On Tuesday, social media site Reddit was fined for the first time for not removing “false content.” Earlier this month, a Russian court fined Apple and Wikipedia for similar reasons. Wikimedia Foundation, which owns Wikipedia, has been fined numerous times, but has refused to comply with any of the demands to take down informa...Maui’s death toll reaches 111 as searchers – many coping with their own losses – comb the wildfire zone

(CNN) — With more than a third of Maui’s wildfire burn zone now searched, children are confirmed among 111 killed as responders – many facing their own grief – continue to hunt for traces of perhaps more than 1,000 people still unaccounted for since last week’s unprecedented inferno, officials in Hawaii said.“No one has ever seen this that is alive today – not this size, not this number, not this volume,” Maui Police Chief John Pelletier said Wednesday. “And we’re not done.”“Realize that the responders that are going out there are recovering their loved ones and members of their families,” he said.About 38% of the burn zone had been searched as of Wednesday afternoon, Pelletier said, as authorities hope to cover much of it by the weekend. Combing the ashes of what used to be homes, business and historic landmarks is difficult, and identifying those killed won’t be easy, as remains are largely unrecognizable and fingerprints rarely found, Hawaii Gov...Gary Phillips: Mighty Braves show Yankees what a championship-caliber team truly looks like

ATLANTA — Before the Yankees began their three-game series with the Braves, Aaron Boone said the opponent had “no real weakness.”“They’re kind of running away with their division for good reason,” the manager said of Atlanta, baseball’s best team. Those comments preceded an 11-3 loss for the Yankees. And a 5-0 loss in which they were one-hit. And a 2-0 loss that capped a wretched 2-7 road trip.“Right now, they’re the class of the league,” Boone said, later adding that there’s a big gap between them and the Yankees. “I mean, clearly. That’s where you want to be, and they’re obviously putting together a pretty great season.”“That’s where you want to be” is a far cry from the championship-caliber labels the Yankees undeservedly gave themselves earlier this year. Such descriptions haven’t been used lately, as the team is now 60-61 and 6.5 games out of the third and final wild...Hilary upgraded to hurricane: What does this mean for San Diego?

SAN DIEGO -- What started as a tropical storm off the Pacific coast of Mexico intensified into a hurricane Thursday morning, the National Weather Service announced. Dubbed Hurricane Hilary, weather officials confirmed the update around 5 a.m. PST.The storm is expected to move north along the Baja coast before potentially reaching San Diego County this weekend or by Monday, NWS explained. What can be expected? The region's mountains, inland valleys and deserts can anticipate a lingering heat wave into Friday with isolated thunderstorms possible across the mountains and high desert, according to weather officials. In a video statement Wednesday, NWS officials said "the door is open, the monsoon flow is here." This means there's a potential path for this hurricane to come right up the coast, though Hilary is expected to to weaken as it approaches the peninsula. That doesn't mean, however, that the storms remnants won't be felt. An increasing "offshore flow wind" could create large swells ...Small plane crashes on a Malaysian highway, killing all 8 people on board and 2 on the ground
