Victims of the Club Q mass shooting plan to sue the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for refusing to use the state’s red flag law to prevent the suspected shooter from legally buying or possessing guns before the attack last year, according to legal notices obtained by The Denver Post on Monday.Eleven survivors and family members of victims who died in the November attack alerted the county to their plans to sue in May, and claimed that the mass shooting could have been prevented but for the sheriff’s blanket refusal to use extreme risk protection orders, which allow authorities to seize a person’s guns for up to a year if a judge finds that person presents an immediate threat to themselves or others.El Paso County commissioners declared the county a “Second Amendment Preservation County” in 2019, as state lawmakers passed the red flag law, and the sheriff’s office created a policy that said deputies would not seek extreme risk protection ord...

Denver woman challenges longstanding Colorado law requiring anti-abortion activists to give patients space at clinics

A Denver woman is mounting a new legal challenge to a longstanding Colorado law that prohibits anti-abortion activists from approaching within eight feet of people outside abortion clinics. The law was crafted in 1993 by Colorado lawmakers to curb so-called “sidewalk counseling” — last-minute, one-on-one appeals by protesters to people seeking abortions outside the doors of an abortion provider. A divided U.S. Supreme Court upheld the law in 2000, with the majority of justices rejecting arguments that it violated anti-abortion protesters’ First Amendment rights. But the U.S. Supreme Court justices last year opened the door for a new free speech challenge when the court stripped away the constitutional right to abortion, attorneys for plaintiff Wendy Faustin argued in a lawsuit filed Thursday in U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.A single line in the historic 213-page Dobbs opinion cites the court’s prior ruling on the Colorado law as one tha...

Netflix has a slew of major action projects set to premiere this summer and one of them is "Extraction 2," starring Chris Hemsworth. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was recently named the streamer's new Chief Action Officer, has some tips for the "Thor" actor. Schwarzenegger, famous for his one-liners in action films, revealed he has some ideas up his sleeve for Hemsworth.
